Linoleum Block Carving Stamps

Using carving tools and pink linoleum blocks, we make stamps!

Carving & Printing

Linocut is a style of relief, or block printing on a flexible linoleum pad. We started with a sketch on our blocks in pencil and then carved away! This is an awesome medium to share with the students as it gives them an idea of how printmaking works. We’re having to think backwards (as the stamp is reversed) and carve away patiently to make the image come out accordingly.

Students love making stamps because they get to reuse them and print their carved image onto all sorts of surfaces.
