Using local produce and Andy Warhol’s sketches as inspiration.
Still Life Drawing & Andy Warhol
As we study Still Life paintings, we notice the fragility of life through naturally decaying items, like foods and flowers, that we get to playfully preserve in art. Here we are drawing a replication of a banana, squash and onion. By sketching these objects from different angles and positions, we notice how the lighting dramatically effects our perception of the object.
Hatching & Watercolors
In this specific class we discussed Andy Warhol’s earlier sketches and we used simple hatching techniques to produce shadows on our own veggies. Watercolors were added to the bananas to further exaggerate the lighting and shadow play.
